Where it’s found

Moonstone is a feldspar. Meetiyagoda in southern Sri Lanka is a well-known source, and the polished stone pictured here is from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

What to look for. The sheen is called adularescence. The trade name ‘rainbow moonstone’ usually refers to a variety of labradorite.

Common spellwork uses

Moonstone is often chosen for lunar work, transitions, and intentions about beginning again. Its shifting sheen makes it a fitting symbol for something unfolding in stages.

These are symbolic associations in modern crystal practice.

Self-help and journaling

Give yourself room to name the stage you’re in. You might be gathering information, trying a first step, or letting a decision settle before you act.

Journal prompt. What part of this new beginning can I let unfold at its own pace?

How to care for it

Protect it from knocks, high heat, and sudden temperature changes. Use gentle care on polished pieces and avoid steam and ultrasonic cleaners.
