Amethyst
Purple quartz with shades that can run from pale lilac to deep violet.
Where it’s found
Amethyst can grow in cavities as purple quartz points. Brazil and Uruguay are well known for crystal-lined geodes, and Zambia is another source. The specimen pictured here comes from Bolivia’s Anahí Mine.
What to look for. Amethyst often grows in pointed crystals. Color zoning can give one point both pale and dark purple areas.
Common spellwork uses
Amethyst is often chosen for dreamwork, quiet reflection, and spells centered on discernment. In a working about finding a little stillness, the purple stone can stand for the pause between a feeling and a decision.
These are symbolic associations in modern crystal practice.
Self-help and journaling
Keep it near a journal as a visual cue to slow down and name what’s on your mind. If you keep a dream journal, record the detail that stayed with you and what it brings up for you now.
Journal prompt. What feels clearer after I give it a little space?
How to care for it
Dust clusters with a soft brush and keep amethyst away from strong light for long periods. Avoid steam, high heat, and sudden temperature changes. Let the surrounding rock guide how you clean a cluster.
