Peppermint
Mentha × piperita
A strongly scented mint hybrid with toothed leaves and a cool fragrance.
Where it’s found
Peppermint is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint. It’s commonly grown from a labeled plant or cutting and can spread rapidly by runners in a garden bed.
What to look for. Look for paired, toothed leaves and square stems. Several mints look alike, so use a labeled plant when the exact variety matters.
Common spellwork uses
Mint is often associated with prosperity and fresh momentum in modern spellwork. Peppermint’s sharp scent can symbolize the moment you clear a distraction and return to the work in front of you.
These are symbolic associations in modern practice.
Self-help and journaling
Pick a task that has stalled. Write down the first step you could complete without needing to finish the whole thing.
Journal prompt. What would get me moving again in the next ten minutes?
Growing and storing it
Growing. Give peppermint sun to partial shade and regular moisture. Plant it in its own pot with drainage to keep runners from taking over nearby plants.
Storing. Dry leaves quickly in a thin layer or with a dehydrator. Wait until they’re fully dry before storing them in a labeled, airtight jar.
