Where it’s found

Pyrite occurs in several kinds of rock and mineral deposits. The mines near Navajún in La Rioja, Spain, are known for distinct cubic specimens, and cube-shaped pyrite also occurs in Peru.

What to look for. Look for a metallic shine and a brassy rather than buttery gold color. Pyrite can show straight lines across its crystal faces and grow in shapes other than cubes.

Common spellwork uses

Pyrite is often chosen for prosperity, confidence, and work about knowing the worth of your effort. Its gold-like shine can also symbolize the difference between a bright opportunity and one with real substance.

These are symbolic associations in modern crystal practice.

Self-help and journaling

If an opportunity looks attractive, write down what you’d actually gain, what it would cost, and what you still need to verify before committing.

Journal prompt. What would make this opportunity worthwhile after the initial excitement fades?

How to care for it

Keep pyrite in a dry place and dust it with a dry brush. Avoid soaking and humid displays. Mineral collections use dry storage to reduce the risk of pyrite decay.
